Dog Nutrition

What's in your dog's food?

Do you read the label on your dog's food? The answer is, generally, no we don't. We should though, because often we're led to believe that a food is good due to advertising and packaging, when really the food is full of ingredients that are indigestible, cheap and less desirable than we would like to feed.

When the ingredients list 'cereals', this can be any cereal - wheat, corn, barley - all of which are just there to bulk the food out and are not very digestible. What goes in comes out!

Then it will say 'meat and animal derivatives'. These can contain ANY meat/animal, and derivatives can be heads, feet and guts.

Often, chemicals and colourings are used. These can cause hyperactivity (as with children with E numbers).

So if you want to feed your dog the best diet, look for a complete natural food that uses real meat and rice.

Your dog will then look, feel and perform better.
